AMHERST, N.Y. – Buffalo Public Schools has presented ˿����Ƶ College a Community Partnership Appreciation Award in honor of the college’s outreach efforts with South Park High School.

Cheryl Bird, executive director of ˿����Ƶ’s Paul A. Saffrin Center for Sustainability and Civic Engagement, accepted the award on behalf of ˿����Ƶ, which was presented at the Buffalo Public Schools Parent and Community Partnership Awards event.

“We are greatly honored to receive this award for our community initiatives with students and residents in the South Buffalo neighborhood,” said Bird, who oversees projects with the high school. “Civic engagement is an important part of the ˿����Ƶ experience, and these efforts give students the opportunity to support and serve our local community.”

˿����Ƶ was cited for the college’s partnership activities at South Park High School held this year, including community health clinics that offered a range of free health screenings provided by physician assistant students, and a health fair that featured information and presentations by nursing students on oral health, opioid and tobacco prevention, cyber bullying, and other health topics relevant to teenagers.
