˿Ƶ to Host Program for Small Business Owners

AMHERST, N.Y. – Nearly 400 entrepreneurs and small business owners attended a kick-off event on Jan. 25 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center for Straight Talk 2020, a small business education program being held at ˿Ƶ College.

Presented by SCORE Buffalo Niagara and the U.S. Small Business Association, the eight-week Straight Talk seminar series will be held from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Feb. 4 through March 24 in ˿Ƶ’s Schenck Hall Room 107 at 4380 Main St., Amherst.

This marks the first time the program is being hosted on ˿Ƶ’s campus as a collaborative effort through the college’s Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation, and Business Administration departments.

"We are excited to enter into a new partnership with SCORE and our region’s Small Business Administration to host Straight Talk, a world-class program for small business owners and aspiring and current entrepreneurs,” said Elizabeth Wright, ˿Ƶ dean of health and human services. “Opening our campus to the Buffalo Niagara business community through this innovative lecture series will be a great opportunity for area business owners to experience our college.”

The Straight Talk program will cover a range of topics, including business plans, certifications, small business loans, social media marketing, permits and taxes, home-based businesses, and building business relationships. Small business owners will also share their success stories and provide advice on achieving business success.
