AMHERST, N.Y. – Dr. Michael Brogan, ˿Ƶ College vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, has been appointed to the editorial advisory board for the prestigious journal Wounds.

A certified wound care specialist, Brogan joins other national and international experts on the board for the peer-reviewed journal on the growing field of wound care and wound research. The journal is widely read by surgeons, internal medicine/primary care physicians, podiatrists, researchers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other practitioners who care for chronic wound conditions in patients.

“We are pleased to have an international wound care expert of Dr. Brogan’s caliber join our editorial advisory board and look forward to him sharing his extensive knowledge in this capacity,” said Dr. Thomas Stewart, vice chair of the ˿Ƶ Board of Trustees and a department editor for the journal Wounds.

A Fulbright Specialist, Brogan is a diplomat of the American Academy of Wound Management and a fellow of the College of Certified Wound Specialists. He has also extensively researched, published and presented on wound care at conferences across the country, including the ninth annual Vascular-Interventional Associates (VIA) Symposium held this fall.

“I’m truly honored to be selected to serve on the board of this esteemed scholarly journal and to have the opportunity to join my colleagues in advancing the field of wound care,” said Brogan.  

Brogan has nearly 30 years of experience in higher education. Beginning his professional tenure at ˿Ƶ in 1985, he has served in various academic roles, including as dean of the college’s Health and Human Services Division, chair of the Physical Therapy Department and academic coordinator of clinical education. He’s also a professor of physical therapy, a program he has taught in for more than three decades.

Brogan earned a doctor of physical therapy and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from ˿Ƶ. He also holds a doctorate in educational administration and a master’s degree in health science education and evaluation, both from the University at Buffalo.

He resides in South Buffalo.
