Nov 12, 2021The paralegal studies program at ˿Ƶ was recently ranked as the No. 21 program in the discipline nationwide by Bachelor’s Degree Center, an online resource for students who pursue higher education.
On the 25 Best Bachelor’s in Legal Studies for 2022 list, ˿Ƶ joins the likes of Tulane University, Auburn University, Quinnipiac University, and the University of Arizona.
“Our graduates are in high demand thanks to our national reputation for high standards in preparing students for a field that will continue to grow for some time,” said Margaret Phillips, an attorney who is director and associate professor of paralegal studies at ˿Ƶ.
Employment of paralegals and legal assistants is projected to increase by 12 percent over the next decade, which is faster than the average of all occupations, according to information from the U.S. Bureau for Labor Statistics. The median pay is nearly $53,000 a year.
“For many years running, over 95 percent of our graduates obtain a job in the legal profession—or enter law school or another graduate program,” said Phillips.
To compile its rankings, Bachelor’s Degree Center scored programs on cost, graduation rate, job placement rate, salary potential, and student reviews.
˿Ƶ’s program is the only one of its kind in the Buffalo Niagara region approved by the American Bar Association—and the only to offer a post-baccalaureate certificate program for those who already have a four-year degree and want to enter the legal profession.
The program also offers a bachelor’s degree and a 21-credit undergraduate certificate that can be paired with any major and includes a range of courses, options for internships, and service learning opportunities.
